Job Description
Position Summary:
Maintains grounds of industrial, commercial, public or private property and performs other installation and enhancement activities.
Position Duties:
• Works around and operates hand tools and mechanical machinery used for landscape maintenance.
• Cutting lawn, trimming and edging along borders and blowing using power equipment
• Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs
• Rakes and bags leaves
• Prepares and grades terrain
• Seeds lawns and sod installation
• Installs and/or moves and transplants trees, shrubs, and other plant material on current maintenance and enhancement jobs and properties
• Digs trenches for irrigation systems or piping and supports irrigation technician or manager in the installation of the irrigation systems
• Picking up trash and debris
• Performing weeding by hand or using a garden hoe
• Maintaining a polite, friendly, and responsive demeanor with guests and customers
• Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
• The ability to use hand equipment with mechanized moving blades such as gas-powered shears
• Experience using manual hand tools such as shovels, rakes etc.
• The ability to work from elevated heights such as an 8’ A-frame ladder
• Ability to use a hand shovel for extended periods
• Ability to move soil, equipment, and materials, digs holes, and plant trees, shrubs and flowers
• Able to work in/or about situations near direct automotive traffic
• Able to work near or about natural bodies of water
• Able to work 8+ hours per day with applicable breaks x 5 days/week (some overtime/weekend work required)
• Ability to work in extreme conditions – temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit • Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift and carry 75 lbs. (mulch, fertilizer, etc.)
• Ability to load/unload burlaps with plant cuttings onto trailer (up to 75 lbs.)
• Ability to bend, stoop and twist continuously throughout the day

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; extreme cold and extreme heat; wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

You might be a good fit if you have:
• At least 6 months of commercial landscape experience preferred but not required
