Job Description

We are looking for a motivated Junior Process Engineer to join our team. This role is designed for Engineers who are eager to learn and grow within the food manufacturing industry. In this role, you will support the design, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes to ensure the efficient production of our high-quality baked goods. You will also own the Parts Buying and Planning process. You will work closely with the Engineering and Maintenance team and cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency while adhering to safety and quality standards. The Engineer will be based in one of our state-of-the-art facilities in the San Francisco Bay Area.

  • Engage in an extensive training program to gain in-depth knowledge of our technology and manufacturing processes
  • Travel to various manufacturing sites and equipment manufacturers across the U.S. to learn different facets of the manufacturing process
  • Work closely with experienced engineers and technicians to understand equipment functionality, process flow, and operational needs
  • Assist in the development and customization of manufacturing equipment to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance
  • Participate in process improvement projects and contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve equipment reliability, to implement process improvements and to resolve operational issues
  • Support the product development and manufacturing teams with the development and implementation of new technologies and systems within the manufacturing environment
  • Contribute to the training and development of other team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning

Key Planning & Buying Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning

  • Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to plan and schedule routine preventive maintenance and repairs for equipment and facilities
  • Develop detailed maintenance schedules and work orders, ensuring that resources and labor are allocated efficiently
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and schedules

Spare Parts Inventory Management

  • Monitor and manage the inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment required for maintenance tasks
  • Identify critical spare parts and establish reorder levels to prevent stockouts
  • Source and purchase spare parts and materials as needed while maintaining cost-effectiveness
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of maintenance materials
  • Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers to optimize costs while maintaining quality and availability

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field)
  • 0 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; recent graduates with relevant internships are welcome
  • Familiarity with food manufacturing processes and safety regulations is a plus
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Adaptability to fast-paced and changing environments
