Job Summary:

The Food Service Technician supports the daily operations of the food service department by assisting with food preparation, service, and kitchen maintenance tasks.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assist with the preparation and assembly of food items, including salads, sandwiches, entrees, and desserts, following standardized recipes and portion control guidelines.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, ovens, grills, and steamers to prepare and cook food items according to established procedures.
• Ensure that all food products are handles, stored, and served at appropriate temperatures to maintain food safety and quality.
• Assist with food service activities, including setting up serving lines, portioning food onto trays, and serving meals to customers in a timely and courteous manner.
• Ensure that good items are attractively presented and garnished, and that serving areas are clean, organized, and well-maintained throughout meal periods.
• Monitor food supplies and replenish serving stations as needed to ensure a continuous supply of food and beverages for customers.
• Follow established sanitation and hygiene procedures to maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment, and sanitizing food contact surfaces.
• Dispose of food waste, trash, and recyclables in designated containers and ensure that all waste disposal procedures are followed properly.
• Assist with inventory control tasks, including receiving, inspecting, and storing food supplies, rotating stock, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
• Monitor inventory levels of food and supplies, notify supervisors of low stock of shortages, and assist with placing orders or requisitions as needed to replenish supplies.

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent desirable.
• Previous experience in a food service or kitchen environment preferred by not required.
• Food handler's certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions from supervisors.
• Physical stamina and endurance to perform manual labor, including standing, walking, lifting, and bending for extended periods.
