Join to apply for the Cleaner (Hospital) - Full Time Overnight (Alternating Weekends) role at Stony Brook Medicine At Stony Brook Medicine, our Cleaners are responsible for the cleaning, maintenance, and care of hospital rooms, corridors, and adjacent grounds. Qualified candidates should demonstrate excellent intrapersonal skills and time management skills. Attention to detail and the ability to work with all levels of the organization are essential. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Washing floors, corridors, stairs, walls, partitions, and windows using various cleaning tools. Transporting and disposing of medical waste and linens according to procedures. Stripping and waxing floors, vacuuming carpets, and dusting assigned areas. Cleaning and scrubbing lavatories, locker rooms, and related fixtures. Polishing furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Removing hazardous materials and placing them appropriately. Moving furniture and equipment for cleaning or setup purposes. Changing curtains, hanging pictures, and maintaining decor. Empting trash and recyclables per schedule. Assembling cleaning carts and diluting cleaning solutions properly. Wearing protective gear as required. Monitoring supplies and equipment, reporting issues to supervisors. Possibly removing snow, cleaning sidewalks, or mowing lawns. Cleaning specialized areas like labs, clean rooms, or operating rooms, following infection control protocols. Qualifications: Required: Must be physically capable of performing the tasks and communicating effectively. Preferred: Experience in a hospital setting, excellent interpersonal and time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to work across organizational levels.
