General Purpose Operate shuttles to move trailers from building to building, staging area, and from various loading dock doors. Apply knowledge of commercial driving regulations.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesOperate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and DFA rules, regulations, and policies adhering to all safety practicesReceive instructions via radio and perform trailer shuttling to accommodate logistical needsPerform daily maintenance checks of shuttle truck and report any malfunctions to the appropriate personDocument all trailer moves into the appropriate system or daily move sheet; submit sheet to appropriate person upon the completion of the shiftFuel the yard truck as neededCouple and uncouple tractor trailer units Connect and disconnect brake lines as neededPerform safety check inspection of the trailer according to DOT regulationsSecure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shiftCommunicate effectively and maintain good relations with local staff; report any problems to the supervisorAttend all driver workshops and training sessionsRepresent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or other individualsThe requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required.
