We are currently seeking a candidate to fill a full-time position as a VP of Operations. The position will be based at our facility in Boston (Charlestown, MA). Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following: Develop and implement a manufacturing development and scale-up strategy to bring Ionomr’s revolutionary Exchange Material technology to market on an aggressive timeline. Develop manufacturing methods with scalable equipment sets that have robust capabilities and defined operating procedures to meet cost, quality, and throughput targets. Define and maintain manufacturing technology strategies that drive down our product cost through a period of rapid growth. Manage and oversee all operations from low-volume manufacturing activities through the transition to high volume production scale. Own responsibility for identifying, developing, negotiating, and managing relationships with partners to supply critical materials. Perform market analyses, define cost structures, develop cost models, forecast industry trends and risks, and leverage expertise to ensure that Ionomr is working with and procuring from best-in-class supply partners to meet our cost and growth objectives. Execute and ensure compliance with robust commercial terms, while managing supplier risk. Work with engineering and development teams to define and optimize cost, performance, and commercial targets for critical materials. Strong conceptual thinking skills, with quantitative and qualitative analytical and problem-solving skills. An inclusive and authentic leader that earns trust and can build effective teams that foster diversity and cooperation. Able to identify problems; lead and apply structured and disciplined methodologies to identify root cause. Innovative and effective solution development, risk mitigation and execution. Able to consistently make timely decisions even in the face of complexity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness. Strategic leader that effectively prioritizes. Required Qualifications for the position are: BSc. or MSc in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Business or any relevant field; an MBA would be a plus, with 10+ years of manufacturing experience with an established track record and experience spanning both contract and internally manufactured solutions. 7 to 10 years of operational leadership, direct people management experience and experience managing teams with more than 20 individuals. Experience in leading manufacturing teams for technology and new product development preferred. Experience with Ion Exchange Materials desirable. Ability to multitask, prioritize efforts, and effectively communicate progress and strategic roadmaps. Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) and transition to high volume manufacturing. Experience in operating low volume NPI-focused manufacturing operations. Demonstrated experience in driving down manufacturing costs while maintaining or improving product quality for complex electromechanical assemblies. Formal training and application of Lean Manufacturing. Knowledge and experience in MRP systems (planning and forecasting) with strong proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite.
