Job Details

• Performs patient examinations and related activities.
• Performs patient exams in accordance with established protocols.
• Demonstrates knowledge of digital environment.
• Reviews images prior to archiving to PACS and for submission to radiologists for interpretation.
• Maintains patient records; assures the correct patient is being imaged in accordance to hospital protocol of checking at least two patient identifiers prior to completing examination.
• Completes associated paperwork, performs QA/QC on equipment, as needed.
• Stocks exam rooms with basic supplies, starts IV's and/or administer contrast, as needed.
• Maintains and adheres to accepted sterile techniques and provides clean environment within examination area.
• Provides student technologists with the basic procedural concepts within responsible modality.
• Shares emergency call, as required.
• Demonstrates appropriate computer skills.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skill to appropriately communicate and interact with patients, families, visitors, and vendors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
• Knowledgeable of Radiation Safety ALARA principles and practice.
• Reports directly to the Ultrasound Supervisor.

Job Requirements

• Demonstrates a working knowledge of sonographic imaging principles and techniques.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of sonographic imaging equipment and operation.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge and ability to produce sonographic images according to established protocols and interpreting physician guidelines.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of PACS and digital imaging procedures.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge and ability to provide sonographic imaging guidance for specialized studies, such as biopsies, thoracentesis, and others, as required.
• Demonstrates appropriate communication skills necessary to communicate with physicians, nursing and technical staffs, patients, families, and visitors.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of hospital and departmental safety policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates proficiency in one specialty modality area with registry: Abdomen, OB, Vasc, or Muscle Skeletal.
