Job Description

Our client, a local railroad company is currently seeking a Conductor to join it's team.

This is a full time, direct hire opportunity!

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of trains, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation, mechanical knowledge, and air brake systems. As a Conductor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the company's operations while providing exceptional service to it's customers.

Responsibilities

• Operate trains safely and efficiently, adhering to all operational protocols and safety regulations.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections of trains and equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Communicate effectively with crew members and dispatchers regarding train movements and any issues that arise.
• Monitor train speed, signals, and track conditions during transit.
• Manage loading and unloading operations at various stops, ensuring cargo is handled safely.
• Maintain accurate records of train operations, including schedules, delays, and incidents.
• Respond promptly to emergencies or unexpected situations, implementing safety measures as necessary.

Experience

• Previous experience in a conductor or similar role is preferred but not required.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.
• Experience operating heavy equipment is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with air brake systems is a plus.
• A military background may be beneficial due to the emphasis on discipline and adherence to protocols.
• Must have outdoor work experience (e.g. construction, heavy equipment operator, farming, landscaping)
• Lifting up to 70lbs (100 lbs on a rare basis)
• Background check & drug test are required
