We seek a motivated, high-agency Software Engineer to join our backend team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals early in their careers to work with cutting-edge technologies and be mentored by experienced senior engineers. You will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining our backend systems using Node.js and TypeScript.

The role will be largely remote, but with regularly scheduled (1-2 month) co-location events in Charlotte as well that are required. We are only considering candidates who are local to Charlotte.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Collaborate with front-end developers and other team members to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuously improving our development processes.
• Troubleshoot and debug applications to optimize performance and ensure reliability.
• Work closely with senior engineers to learn best practices and enhance your technical skills.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). We love boot campers and self-taught engineers who are hustlers!
• Proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript.
• Basic understanding of backend development principles and practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Nice to haves:

• Experience with Postgresql
• Experience with AWS and serverless technologies.

Our Hiring Process:

• We will review applications and select a small subset for conversation.
• Initial Screen - 15/30m video call with one of the co-founders to meet you and tell you a bit more about the role.
• Technical Screen - 1hr long conversation about technical topics. We don't really do LEET code, but we will grill you on your ability to think in technical concepts, and talk about them (out loud).
• Take Home Test - We have a standard test that we will give to you to build something. It's not a real-world problem or anything, but a way for you to demonstrate that you can get something working in an env and how well you follow (or challenge) instructions.
