Job Summary

As part of the corporate communications, public relations and CSR team, our goal is to continue to protect and enhance the reputation of Mary Kay. We do this through storytelling about company updates, social impact programs, sustainability initiatives and work in support of our mission and people. The Social Media Specialist will be responsible for executing the social media strategy in alignment with business goals, through content writing, scheduling, community management and reporting for the Mary Kay Global social channels and Mary Kay Ash Foundation social channels. The position will own all content creation, asset creation, publishing and coordinating with cross-functional team members for approvals. The position will also support the team with other communications initiatives, events and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.

About The Role

  • Responsible for the creation of engaging content for Mary Kay Global social channels and Mary Kay Ash Foundation social channels. Partner with team members and cross-functional teams to gather relevant information and write content that is suitable for social. The position is responsible for ensuring brand consistency in tone and visuals to continue to grow the social audience and introduce new people to Mary Kay. Work with internal and external resources to ideate and design social graphics, reels, and stories.
  • Responsible for daily social content publishing for multiple channels across Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn and others.
  • Assist with social community management for multiple channels across Facebook, Instagram, X and LinkedIn. Responsible for engaging with social followers, responding to comments and finding opportunities to foster community growth.
  • Responsible for maintaining corporate communications calendar with social media content, press releases, events and other team activities. Calendar is used by the team to communicate with other teams and partners to foster alignment and garner support.
  • Supports Mary Kay Global website and Mary Kay Newsroom updates as needed, including content uploading and content development.
  • Monitor social media performance through analytics tools. Stay current with trends, tools and platforms updates.
  • Responsible for quarterly reporting on social media and public relations to show results and identify insights to help inform the strategy.
  • This job requires on-site work at a Mary Kay facility.

Skills & Experience

Experience: 3-5 years of corporate social media experience or agency experience

Education: Bachelor/University Degree or equivalent in communications, marketing, public relations or related field of study

Additional Skills & Abilities

  • Strong content writer and editor capable of developing social content, and digital blog and website content.
  • Familiarity with public relations and social media platforms and how they work in collaboration with digital platforms is beneficial.
  • Communications skills should be highly developed to manage complexity of working across regions and departments.
  • Should be creatively minded, bringing new ideas forward and finding solutions to problems.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using data to drive strategic decisions and measure ROI.
  • Must be and stay up to date on current social media trends and updates in social media.
  • Strong ability to manage your own time and projects to meet deadlines in a timely manner
  • Expected to handle multiple projects at once and be able to navigate through ambiguity; comfortable taking direction but also managing upward.
  • Experience with Adobe creative suite, including resizing images, creating simple graphics, converting file types, is a plus.
  • Experience with corporations with complex organizational structure is a plus.
