Description The Mission Solutions Business Area at Leidos has an opening for a Simulation Game Developer in Reston, Virginia. The primary focus of the work is developing a systems simulation application in C++ within Unreal. The content (i.e., game levels) will be related to reverse engineering Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) facilities. Candidate must bring a creative, yet sound, approach to identifying and solving challenges where all the information desired is inherently unavailable and have exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to thoroughness. The successful candidate will work as a member of an interdisciplinary team of government and contractor personnel. Work will be performed in a fast-paced, high-energy environment within a government facility.Primary ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop core tools & pipelinesExpand current gameplay & AI systemsDevelop in-engine simulation toolsDevelop and maintain optimized modules for tools surrounding virtual production utilizing game engines along with UI and I/O modulesHelp develop new and exciting gameplay and experienced mechanics for new 3D experiences; some potential for virtual reality projectsHelp lead the development path for creative development solutions for the overall development pipeline and for individual projectsActive participation in technical and artistic discussions and problem-solvingRequired QualificationsMust possess an active Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI and CI polyBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.15+ years of experience in software architecture and design, with a strong focus on enterprise-level systems.Strong knowledge of object-oriented design, design patterns, 3D Math, linear algebra vector math and associated data structuresExpert knowledge of Unreal including GUI, packaging, and materials/shadersStrong knowledge in 3D graphics development (Particle Systems, Shaders) and performance optimization within game developmentStrong knowledge of matrix algebra, trigonometry and computational geometry essentialDetailed knowledge of C++ essentialAbility to implement the existing script and/or visual scripting modules into optimized and economic code within UnrealA good sense of creating and maintaining code bases that are accessible and modularStrong knowledge of and ability to stay well organized and collaborate using Git LFS.Understanding Python tool development is advantageous.Fast, organized, take direction well and can deal with high-profile, customer-facing projects.Strong organizational and communications skills along with the understanding of production values, deadlines and prioritiesPreferred QualificationsExperience collaborating with DTRA, DIA, or other IC agencies’ Chief Information Officer (CIO) departmentsExperience contributing to DTRA or DIA interim authority to test (IATT) or authority to operate (ATO) processesMaster's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.Experience in lieu of degreeExperience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their security implications.Experience with microservices architectures and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), Unreal on Linux.Experience with DevOps practices and tools.Experience with self-managed Nvidia Omniverse or Perforce and how to advocate for their adoptionOriginal Posting Date:2025-01-13While subject to change based on business needs, Leidos reasonably anticipates that this job requisition will remain open for at least 3 days with an anticipated close date of no earlier than 3 days after the original posting date as listed above.Pay Range:Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
