Job Description This role focuses on smart contract development with some backend work. Proceed if you're a hacker at heart, you can work from earliest R&D to final implementation, and these things are of interest to you: intents, rollups, precompiles, predeploys, proof systems, EVM, real people using what you've built. More about us We exist to maximize money's value to reclaim value lost to the current financial system and make sure the on-chain economy actually brings us money without borders. We expect better from our money, and we want you to as well. That's what drives us every day. We focus our work on contributing to the Protocol and building Bend. The Protocol is for stablecoins and the apps that use them designed from the ground up for the most capital efficient stablecoin transaction execution across Ethereum, with the simplest possible user experience. Bend is the product we build to demonstrate what the protocol makes possible to show that we can build a seamless payment experience that anyone can use, with crypto today. With both the Protocol and Bend, we continue to push the boundary of what crypto enables and just how powerful the user experience can be: a simple send, whether you're paying someone, providing liquidity, trying a new app, or inviting a friend on-chain for the first time. We're a team hell-bent on doing our very best work (individually and together), solving hard problems, staying optimistic, and believing money should be better. If these things excite you, now would be the time to join. Responsibilities : Write high quality and well-tested code, and review code from other team members. Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to turn requirements into products and lead the execution end to end. Provide guidance and technical leadership to peers in navigating architectural and coding tradeoffs. Take charge of driving strategic technical initiatives across engineering pods that impact the entire engineering organization. Provide technical support and guidance to developers building on our platform. Competencies/traits: Ability to influence the culture of the entire team with their demeanor, standard of work, knowledge, and hustle. Knows they’re good, without being arrogant. Debatable opinions on the rollup ecosystem and current developments in the Ethereum technical roadmap. Apparent interest and passion for contributing to the crypto ecosystem. A bias for startups: constant problem solving, high ownership and accountability, smaller teams. Qualifications: 6+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years building and maintaining high-availability systems in TypeScript, ideally with experience or interest in Go / Rust. 3+ years of experience developing high-availability backend services that interact with real-time cryptocurrency platforms (solvers, relayers, multichain infra, etc.). Strong coding skills with a deep understanding of cloud architectures, algorithms, and debugging complex distributed systems. Deep understanding of Solidity, the EVM, smart contract best practices, and current industry patterns especially with applied experience in chain abstraction, bridging technologies, intent/relay networks. Experience designing, building, and maintaining large-scale production systems on the cloud, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability. Ability to build from scratch, designing systems from scratch and making critical early technical decisions. Passion for modern best practices in backend engineering and Web3, with a desire to actively shape the tech stack as new systems and services are built. Strong initiative and ownership, with the ability to drive projects forward autonomously in a fast-moving crypto environment. Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to a strong engineering culture. Nice-to-haves: Has previously been a Technical Lead. Prior experience with time-series based monitoring / observability systems. Degree in computer science. Experience with Rust / Go. Active and demonstrated contributions to open source crypto projects.
