About Weckerly’s Ice Cream:

At Weckerly’s Ice Cream, we’re passionate about creating products and experiences that make people feel good. Handcrafted right here in Philadelphia, we use only the finest ingredients to create our ice cream. Alongside our classic and seasonal flavors, we’re renowned for our unique and mouthwatering ice cream sandwiches. Over the years, we've introduced over 300 flavors to our loyal customers!

Currently, Weckerly’s operates two scoop shops, one in Fishtown and another in King of Prussia, with a third location opening soon in Rittenhouse. For over eight years, we’ve been serving neighbors, tourists, and visitors from across the city. Our shop offers 12 scooped flavors, a selection of pints, and our famous ice cream sandwiches. We regularly introduce new flavors while always keeping good ol' vanilla and chocolate in stock.

Key Responsibilities :

Shop Operations & Communication : Take ownership of daily shop operations, ensuring smooth functioning and clear communication between staff and management. Foster a positive, friendly, and energetic work environment.

Staff Management :

• Train, supervise, and schedule staff members to ensure efficient operation.
• Make decisions regarding staffing levels, including hiring and firing as necessary.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback for staff development.

Health & Safety Compliance :

• Oversee the maintenance, cleanliness, and organization of the shop’s equipment and facilities, ensuring adherence to health code regulations.
• Ensure all daily and weekly checklists are completed, covering maintenance and safety protocols.

Inventory & Ordering :

• Maintain an organized inventory of ice cream, toppings, supplies, and disposables.
• Place orders to the production team and suppliers, ensuring timely deliveries to meet shop needs.

Customer Relations :

• Act as the primary point of contact for addressing customer issues or concerns, ensuring a high standard of customer service.
• Serve as the senior person in charge during shop operating hours, handling any challenges that arise.

Point of Sale & Third-Party Platforms :

• Regularly update and maintain the Point of Sale (POS) system and third-party ordering platforms to reflect accurate pricing, inventory, and product information.

Collaboration & Reporting :

• Communicate regularly with the production manager and shop owner to determine the product mix, pricing strategies, and new offerings.

Documentation & Procedures :

• Create, update, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P.s) to ensure consistency and efficiency in all areas of shop operation.
• Develop and update procedural documents as needed.

Job Requirements :

• Communication Skills : Strong verbal, written, and digital communication abilities to effectively interact with staff, customers, and management.
• Management Experience : A minimum of three years of management experience in a retail or food-service environment, with a proven ability to lead and manage teams.
• Professional Appearance : Demonstrated experience in upholding a high standard of appearance and cleanliness in a customer-facing retail or food-service environment.
• Physical Stamina : Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and spend 8+ hours standing and performing physical tasks, such as scooping ice cream and managing inventory.
• Independent Work : Ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Schedule Flexibility : Must be able to work evenings and weekends , with the availability to adjust shifts as needed.
• Food Safety Certification : SERV Safe Food Manager certification must be obtained within two weeks of hire . The employer will cover the costs of the course and certification exam.

Compensation:

This position is salaried and eligible for bonuses. Compensation is dependent on experience. Benefits include health insurance, and 2 weeks of paid time off after six months of employment.
