Salary range: $100,000 – $142,000,

Overview:

A leading Property and Casualty insurance carrier in the Northeast is seeking an experienced Regional Underwriting Manager to join its Commercial Lines Underwriting leadership team. This role is based out of the company’s Buffalo, NY office and offers a hybrid work schedule , requiring 8 full days per month in-office with flexibility for remote work.

Position Summary:

The Regional Underwriting Manager will be responsible for the performance, mentoring, and development of a regional team of underwriters. The role focuses on driving underwriting strategies, building strong agent relationships, and ensuring profitability through loss ratio and production goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach, and support a team of underwriters to achieve underwriting excellence.
• Develop and execute strategies to meet regional performance goals.
• Cultivate strong relationships with agents and internal teams.
• Oversee underwriting quality, compliance with guidelines, and profitability metrics.
• Manage the book of business to align with company underwriting standards.
• Ensure production and loss ratio targets are met or exceeded.
• Conduct agent meetings and travel regionally as required (~25%).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 7 years of commercial underwriting experience .
• Supervisory or management experience required.
• Familiarity with the Western New York insurance market preferred.
• Professional designations such as CPCU or equivalent coursework are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel up to 25%.

Compensation:

• Salary range: $100,000 – $142,000, depending on experience.
