Position Overview:

We are seeking a Psychiatric Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our growing practice at Phoenix Pointe Psychiatry. In this role, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, PTSD, and psychotic disorders. You will work closely with our on-site therapists, providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that each patient receives holistic, effective, and personalized care.

This position offers benefits, 120 hours PTO, and runs on an 8:00 am - 6:00 pm schedule Tuesdays-Fridays. Saturday - Monday off. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments to diagnose mental health disorders.
  • Interpret labs ordered and completed externally and interpret in-house drug and pregnancy tests
  • Develop individualized treatment plans for patients, including medication management and psychotherapy.
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, adjusting treatment as needed based on patient response and side effects.
  • Work closely with other healthcare providers to coordinate care for patients.
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health disorders, treatment options, and coping strategies.
  • Monitor patient progress and make necessary adjustments to care plans to ensure the best possible outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Stay current with developments in psychiatric care, mental health research, and best practices.
  • Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program OR Master’s degree or higher in Nursing, with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP).
  • Active PA or NP license in the state of Arizona.
  • Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) OR Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
  • Psychiatric experience as a PA or NP, with familiarity in outpatient settings preferred.
  • Experience with a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety, psychosis, and trauma-related disorders.
  • Strong clinical skills in psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric medications, their uses, side effects, and interactions.
  • DEA certification for prescribing controlled substances.
  • A passion for mental health care and improving the lives of patients.
