Job Description

Cardinal Health manages the pharmacy at PAM Specialty Hospital of Las Vegas and is recruiting for a PRN Pharmacy Technician to work on an as needed basis during facility hours. The facility is open 7 days a week; weekdays from 8:00AM - 6:00PM and weekends from 8:00AM - 4:00PM. Responsibilities include assisting the Pharmacist in filling prescription orders as permitted by the State Boards of Pharmacy, IV compounding, handling doctor calls, faxes and medication deliveries, organizing medications for pharmacist to dispense by profiling prescriptions, preparing labels and calculating quantities, maintaining a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, taking inventory, placing orders, checking in drugs and supplies, stocking shelves and removing out-of-date items from inventory, communicating with all customers in a pleasant and professional manner, and other duties as assigned. Qualifications include a high school degree or equivalent preferred, State of Nevada pharmacy technician certification required, national pharmacy technician certification (PTCB) or ability to obtain certification required, IV compounding experience highly preferred, in-patient/hospital pharmacy technician experience highly preferred, Pyxis or Omnicell experience highly preferred, flexibility in working schedule, ability to work in a group, strong verbal and written communication skills, strong customer service skills, comfortable performing repetitive motions/tasks, ability to manage several tasks at the same time, ability to focus on tasks, ability to evaluate operating conditions, ability to exercise sound judgment, demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smart phones and tablets, and may require vendor credentialing. The role applies acquired knowledge and skills to complete standard tasks, readily learns and applies new information and methods to work in assigned area, maintains appropriate licenses, training and certifications, works on routine assignments that require some problem resolution, works within clearly defined standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods, adheres to all quality guidelines, works under moderate degree of supervision, work typically involves regular review of output by work lead or supervisor, and refers complex unusual problems to supervisor.
