Job Title: Parks Maintenance Technician I

Location: Manatee County, FL
Job Type: Full-time

Job Summary:

Abacus Staffing is seeking a  Parks Maintenance Technician I to help maintain and improve public parks, recreational facilities, and outdoor spaces. This entry-level role involves performing general landscaping, facility upkeep, and minor repairs to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for residents and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine grounds maintenance, including mowing, edging, trimming, weeding, and mulching.
• Maintain cleanliness of parks by removing trash, emptying bins, and cleaning restrooms and picnic areas.
• Assist in minor repairs to park facilities, such as benches, playgrounds, fences, and irrigation systems.
• Operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers).
• Inspect and report any hazards or maintenance issues to supervisors.
• Set up and break down equipment for events and recreational activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Provide assistance and information to park visitors as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or general maintenance is a plus.
• Ability to operate small power tools and lawn maintenance equipment.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, working outdoors, and performing manual labor in various weather conditions.
• Basic knowledge of safety procedures and best practices in park maintenance.
• Valid Florida driver’s license preferred.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Payrate: $18.69/HR.
• Shift: Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, OT Available
