Harrison County Hospital is seeking an OB Scrub Tech to join our team.

Scrub Tech experience required. Must be able to scrub c-sections.

Under the supervision of the department of nursing, this position performs the receptionist and secretarial duties on the patient care unit, and serves as the focal communication source in the nursing station through interaction with patients, visitors, staff, other departments and physicians. Under the supervision of the department of nursing, this position performs and understands sterile technique and sets up and tears down vaginal delivery tables. Under the supervision of the surgery department, this position performs and understands sterile technique and sets up and turns over the OB surgical suite for cesarean sections.

STATUS: PRN (as needed) Rotating Shift (Days and Nights)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• One of the following: Certification as a surgical technologist, One year previous experience as an OB Surgery Technician, completion of an accredited surgical technology program, or appropriate abilities and educations as determined by the hospital, such as LPN, RN, etc.

SKILLS

• Application of external fetal and maternal monitor.
• Good knowledge of medical terminology.
• Use of correct terminology, spelling, grammar in documentation.
• Effective verbal and communication skills.
• Demonstrates the ability to prepare and maintain sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment.

JOB SUMMARY

He/she functions as scrub assistant to the doctor and helps in the set-up and break down of the operating room. He/she assists the doctor with vaginal deliveries and the set-up and break down of vaginal delivery tables. Other responsibilities include receptionist and secretarial duties, maintaining delivery logs, and assisting nurses as needed. He/she should be emotionally stable and mature, accurate, and flexible in his/her dealings with other people.
