Job Description

Allient-Rochester (formerly ORMEC Systems, Inc.), a subsidiary of Allient Inc., specializing in motion control systems such as motion controllers, servo drives, motors, and integrated automation solutions is looking for a Manufacturing Test Engineer to join our team in Rochester, New York!

The Manufacturing Test Engineer will develop and implement testing processes for Allient's motion control and power solutions. This role involves designing test procedures, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and ensuring product quality and reliability. Apply now!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop test strategies, plans, equipment, and software for assigned product lines that meet customer requirements and are suitable for use in demanding industrial and medical environments.
  • Develop, execute, and manage test eco-system to de-risk hardware and ensure product meets target reliability levels and ultimate design intent.
  • Design and implement semi-automated testing equipment/protocols for:
  • Validation/characterization and reliability/environmental testing of new products in development.
  • Functional test, burn-in, and reliability/environmental testing of products in volume production.
  • Perform hands-on and data-driven root cause analysis of electronic and electromechanical subsystems utilizing structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Produce and maintain testing logs/data, develop library of error codes with troubleshooting logic/diagrams for fast issue resolution.
  • Design and execution of PCBA and electrical system components with hands-on testing and rework as necessary.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing and supply chain teammates throughout product development cycles to perform risk assessments, maintain ownership of test deployment activities in production, oversee technician training, and burn down bug fixes/improvements as needed.
  • Generate controlled test instructions that can be easily followed by manufacturing operators and technicians.
  • Assist manufacturing test technicians in troubleshooting and repairing failed test equipment and electronic assemblies.
  • Compile, assess, and analyze production test data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Provide training and guidance to manufacturing test groups on the proper use of test equipment and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing test engineering, preferably in electronic and electro-mechanical products that meet customer requirements in aerospace & defense, medical, and/or semiconductor equipment markets.
  • Strong understanding of test methodologies, equipment, and software used in manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in designing and managing functional test and burn in platforms for use in high/medium mix and low/medium volume production environments.
  • Proficiency in common test programming environments, such as Python or LabVIEW.
  • Proficiency with data collection and statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites, suppliers and other Allient locations as required.
