Addison Group is currently seeking an experienced Legal Billing Specialist for our client, a reputable law firm. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional with expertise in legal billing, particularly in large law firm settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronic billing, complex billing scenarios, and a proven ability to handle a high volume of billing for attorneys.

Job Description:


Our client is looking for a Legal Billing Specialist with at least 3 years of legal billing experience to join their team. The role involves managing billing for 85+ attorneys, handling complex billing situations, and ensuring accurate and timely invoice processing. The candidate will need to be comfortable working with high-level partners, attorneys, and clients while ensuring all billing processes align with firm and client requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily billing tasks to support partners, attorneys, and clients, including generating and editing proformas, creating timecard summaries, and updating matter and timekeeper rates.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing on a monthly basis, following up with relevant parties to resolve billing issues and ensure invoices are approved and processed.
  • Implement and comply with client Outside Counsel Guidelines and fee structures to ensure billing accuracy.
  • Process electronic invoices, ensuring they are submitted correctly and efficiently. Address any rejections or reductions of electronic invoices in a timely manner.
  • Handle complex billing scenarios, including joint billing, transfer/split billing, narrative changes, and heavy edits.
  • Maintain professional communication with attorneys, partners, legal secretaries, vendors, and clients, ensuring confidentiality and a courteous approach.
  • Manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Perform other billing-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of legal billing experience, preferably in a mid to large-sized law firm; big law experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel, which is used regularly for daily tasks.
  • Experience with Elite 3E or Aderant billing software is required.
  • Must have prior electronic billing experience.
  • Comfortable communicating effectively with all levels of personnel, including leadership, attorneys, peers, and partners.
