Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician and Groundsman position is responsible for the physical upkeep of the property, including performing repairs, maintaining the grounds and parking lots, collecting trash, blowing leaves, etc, as well as performing necessary cleaning activities, such as dusting, mopping, trash removal, after all repairs are done.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs daily rounds, logging all required readings from systems, alerting supervisor or GM of any areas needing repair.
- Performs repairs in all areas of hotel and grounds as needed.
- Maintains grounds, weeding, pruning, fertilizing, and planting annuals.
- Helps maintain the pond and the fish within it.
- Communicates to the front desk staff and lead housekeeper regarding the status of repairs in rooms.
- Responds to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Logs in and maintains contact through assigned devices/software and walkie talkies.
- Cleans up after all repairs are completed in guest rooms, alerting housekeeping that the room is ready to be sanitized.
- Cleans up after all repairs in public spaces, alerting a houseman that the area is ready to be sanitized.
- Maintains a friendly and professional attitude when interacting with guests and fellow staff members
- Perform special projects as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned. The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems
- Knowledge of basic carpentry skills
- Knowledge of basic gardening skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years maintenance or related construction experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Able to stand for prolonged periods
- Able to climb ladders
- Able to climb stairs and assist guests with luggage
- Able to walk hallways and perimeter of property
- Able to twist, bend and reach
- Able to lift up to 75 pounds
