Summary

The Childcare Floater plays a vital role in maintaining the daily operations of the childcare program by supporting multiple classrooms as needed. This position requires a flexible, adaptable individual who can assist teachers in creating a nurturing, engaging, and safe environment for children. The floater works with children of varying ages, from infants to preschoolers, depending on the needs of the day.

Work Schedule:
This position is for an afternoon floater. You must be available from 11:00 am - 5:45 pm, Monday - Friday. Additional hours may be added to meet the needs of the center.

Duties

Key Responsibilities:
  • Classroom Support: Assist lead and assistant teachers in daily activities, transitions, and routines. Provide coverage during breaks, absences, or when additional help is needed.
  • Child Engagement: Interact positively with children, encouraging their curiosity, development, and participation in activities. Maintain a warm and nurturing demeanor.
  • Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children under your care. Monitor children during play, rest, and mealtimes, stepping in to address safety concerns as necessary.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with teachers and staff to provide consistent and high-quality care across all classrooms. Maintain clear and respectful communication with team members.
  • Cleaning and Organization: Help maintain clean, organized, and safe classroom environments by tidying up, sanitizing surfaces and toys, and assisting with setting up or breaking down activities.
  • Flexibility: Be prepared to adjust your schedule and classroom assignments daily, based on the center’s staffing and operational needs.
  • Compliance: Follow all childcare licensing regulations, as well as the policies and procedures of Little Oaks Academy.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and meet all state licensing requirements for childcare staff.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and work with children of varying ages and needs.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds, sit on the floor, and actively engage with children.
  • Must be available 5 days a week from 11:00 am - 5:45 pm
