Overview : This role is responsible for supporting the Head of Risk Management & Compliance with developing, structuring, resourcing and delivering a vision and strategy for enterprise risk, and an enterprise risk operating model, which improves the company’s risk capability at all levels across the organization, including positioning it within a broader governance and compliance framework. Utilizes innovative approaches to redefine risk management, building engagement, efficiency and understanding at all levels internally and externally. Includes the utilization of risk evaluation approaches business wide to identify and maintain business continuity and resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Updating the risk management policy & framework relevant to the business growth phase enabling management to effectively identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the company.
  • Working closely with senior leadership to ensure risks are proactively identified and that effective risk mitigation plans are developed, using a standardized approach and a common risk language, framework and taxonomy.
  • Ensuring risk registers, mitigation strategies and risk action plans for the enterprise are current, complete, and coordinated.
  • Providing risk consultancy and support, building a positive risk culture in the organization, championing risk management and supporting decision-making processes.
  • Defining and implementing a training and outreach program to build stakeholder engagement, supporting teams and divisions to standardize and mature the quality of their risk management activities.
  • Staying updated on industry trends and evolving risk management practices, continuously looking for opportunities to improve risk management ways of working.
  • Facilitating the definition of board-endorsed risk appetite statements across material risk areas and identifying appropriate key risk indicators.
  • Implementing automated and data-led reporting on the risk landscape and risk exposure, providing consolidated, insightful, and actionable reports that support and drive change to improves the organization’s risk profile.
  • Defining appropriate technology requirements for risk management processes and risk capabilities, aligned to the rapid scaling of the business. Leading tendering, procurement and roll-out of identified technologies as part of an enterprise risk roadmap.
  • Working with business/department owners, monitor and review potential risks that may affect Trina Solar’s ability to continue operating and periodically update the associated mitigation strategies and plans, including monitoring of the effectiveness of continuity controls and levels of risk exposure due to disruptions.

Professional Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will have at least 7+ years’ experience in enterprise risk management.
  • Solar energy experience is desirable but not essential.
  • A recognized risk expert (at all org. levels), with experience of working in Enterprise Risk within a complex, international organization, and/or a rapidly scaling start-up environment.
  • Demonstrable influencing, persuasion, and communication skills, with a high degree of perseverance and resilience, supported by technical risk expertise and advanced analytics.
  • Career history evidencing stakeholder engagement, gravitas, pragmatism and the ability to concisely and incisively articulate risk.
  • Significant prior experience in enterprise risk management roles, preferably for this position.

Academic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, risk management, or a related field. Qualified Risk Management practitioner.
  • One or more enterprise risk management related qualifications, such as:
  • Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA)
  • Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP)
  • PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)
  • Certified Enterprise Risk Manager (CERM)
  • Certified Risk Management Professional (RIMS-CRMP)
  • Enterprise Risk Management Certificate (COSO)

Required Skills:

  • Excellent commercial acumen, ideally with exposure to the solar energy (or a related) industry, and/or within a similarly ambitious start-up enterprise
  • Demonstrable ability to challenge and influence at senior management level
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, with presence and gravitas
  • Positive and pragmatic approach to achieving results
  • Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex risk concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Proficiency with risk management software and tools.
  • Strong ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity
