Northern Transformer is a Canadian-owned, fast growing manufacturer of power transformers. Our team delivers transformers of the highest quality through superior design, quality workmanship and attention to our clients’ individual needs.
Due to the growth of our business, we have an opening for an Electrical Manufacturing Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience with the theory and practice of transformer winding and general understanding of transformer design and manufacture.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Working closely with the electrical and mechanical transformer designers, the electrical manufacturing designer shall create the manufacturing drawings and work instructions based on the engineering models.
Create manufacturing drawing and work instructions for power transformers from 1 to 200 MVA and up to 230 kV in accordance with company design standards, practices and industry codes
Work in close cooperation with, and provide training to the manufacturing and quality team to ensure design intents are understood and implemented correctly
Monitor production performance (quality, cost, schedule) with respect to selection of winding types and design alternatives and feedback to engineering and costing team
Requirements
Strong understanding of transformer manufacturing theory and practice
5+ years of power transformer manufacturing experience with focus on winding activities
Proficiency developing detailed diagrams, drawings, specifications and manufacturing work instructions
AutoCAD design capability
Highly motivated individual with the ability to work independently under pressure and meet deadlines
Able to effectively discuss, explain and coordinate transformer designs with peers and across functions
Excellent organization skills combined with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Solid computer skills preferably including 2D and 3D design experience, programming and strong excel capabilities
Engineering degree or Technical diploma
Strong communication skills in English, spoken and written
Willing to relocate to Toronto area, Ontario
