Job Description

In this role, you will provide individualized support and training, helping clients thrive in their homes and communities. As a DSP, you will provide essential support services, including personal assistance, independent skill development, and community integration. You will play a vital role in empowering clients to lead fulfilling lives while ensuring their safety and well-being. Key Responsibilities include supporting clients in daily activities and personal goals as outlined in their Individual Support Plans, accompanying clients to medical appointments, recreational activities, and community resources, providing training in personal hygiene, money management, safety, household skills, meal preparation, and medication management, documenting client progress and maintaining detailed records, implementing emergency and safety drills, completing General Event Reports and adhering to state guidelines, maintaining current certifications in CPR, Standard First Aid, and Med Aide if administering medications, attending meetings and specialized training, completing competency-based Community Services orientation training, and performing other duties as assigned. Education and experience requirements include being at least 18 years old, having a high school diploma or GED, and one year of experience in the field of intellectual/developmental disabilities or successful completion of approved training. Additional qualifications include reliable communication means, good verbal and written communication skills, punctuality, good computer skills, ability to read and write clearly, and having a working air conditioner and heater in any vehicle used for client transportation. Physical requirements involve sedentary work with occasional exertion up to 10 pounds and repetitive movements for typing or writing.
