Schedule: 1st and 2nd Shift

Location:Laboratory Alliance of CNY; Syracuse, NY

ABOUT US:Laboratory Alliance is the area’s largest state-licensed laboratory, providing clinical and anatomic pathology testing to a 16-county region in Central New York. As the laboratory of choice for most local healthcare providers, more than 10 million tests are performed annually at our laboratories at our Operations Center in Liverpool and at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y.

POSITION SUMMARY:  

Under the general direction of the Transportation Manager, the Courier is responsible for driving assigned routes to pick up and deliver specimens, supplies, mail and other items as required to the appropriate location in a timely manner.  All other duties as requested. May have frequent contact with hospital employees, physicians, pathologists, nursing personnel, laboratory personnel, vendors, and regulatory or accrediting agencies. Frequent with physician office staff, delivery personnel, and vendors; will have community visibility throughout the region. 

EDUCATION: 

High School Diploma preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:

Exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, toxic substances, and other conditions common to a health care environment. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  

The  physical  demands  described  here  are  representative  of  those  that  must  be  met  by  an  employee  to  successfully perform  the  essential  functions  of  this  job.  Reasonable  accommodations  may  be  made  to  enable  individuals  with disabilities  to  perform  the  essential  functions.  The work environment frequently varies based on tasks. The employee is regularly both stationary and required to move about. Frequently required to operate a computer and other office equipment and/or a vehicle for extended periods of time; to exchange accurate information with other staff and clients in person and over the phone; to determine and detect differences in size, color, numbers, and letters; to move about from location to location which may require traversing stairs, uneven surfaces both indoor and outdoor in all forms of weather;  and required to transport up to 10 pounds and occasionally transport up to 30 pounds.

SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:  

Must possess a valid NYS Driver’s License.  Proven interpersonal and communication skills.  Ability to adapt to changing workload and stressful situations.  Requires use of equipment such as automobile, hand carts, two way communication device, etc.

Salary Range: $15.00 per hour
