Job Description

At Brahma Consulting Group, we specialize in connecting top-tier talent with innovative companies across the tech landscape. We’re currently partnering with one of our clients to hire a Cloud Platform Engineering Manager to lead a highly skilled team working on a next-gen, real-time cloud-based location streaming platform.

Cloud Platform Engineering Manager

We are seeking a Cloud Platform Engineering Manager to lead a small but highly capable team building our cloud-based streaming location platform. You will oversee the architecture, development, and operations of a system that ingests, processes, and stores high-volume location data in real time. This is a highly technical leadership role for an experienced engineer-turned-manager with a strong background in distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers responsible for core cloud platform services.
  • Drive architectural decisions and roadmap planning for the streaming location platform.
  • Guide the development and optimization of the data ingestion pipeline from range stream to location calculation and storage.
  • Oversee cloud infrastructure deployment and management using Terraform and other infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product and frontend teams to align platform capabilities with user needs.
  • Review technical designs and code to ensure quality, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Ensure best practices for code quality, CI/CD, monitoring, and security are followed.
  • Facilitate Agile processes including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.
  • Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and performance under production workloads.
  • Participate in postmortems and improve response strategies for production incidents.
  • Represent the platform team in cross-functional planning and product discussions.
  • Develop internal documentation to support onboarding, knowledge transfer, and consistent engineering practices.
  • Mentor engineers, support professional development, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

MUST HAVE ATTRIBUTES/SKILLS

  • Proven experience managing or leading engineering teams, ideally in platform or infrastructure roles.
  • Former hands-on developer with strong knowledge of backend systems, data processing, and cloud architecture.
  • Working knowledge of Python codebases, with the ability to review and evaluate production code.
  • Ability to evaluate technical solutions and guide architectural decisions for scalable distributed systems.
  • Deep cloud platform expertise, especially with AWS (ECS, EKS, Lambda, Kinesis, IAM, etc.).
  • Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
  • Understanding of high-volume or time-series data pipelines and distributed system performance considerations.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and team planning processes.
  • Experience supporting production-grade systems in cloud environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in cross-functional and remote team settings.

SHOULD HAVE ATTRIBUTES/SKILLS

  • Experience with streaming data technologies such as Kinesis or Flink.
  • Working knowledge of Node.js frameworks.
  • Familiarity with AWS data storage systems such as DynamoDB or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with DevOps monitoring and alerting tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Familiarity with messaging services like SNS and SQS.
  • Background in IoT or hardware-integrated platforms.
  • Familiarity with hybrid cloud-to-edge deployment architectures.
  • Experience conducting architecture reviews or technical due diligence.

NICE TO HAVE ATTRIBUTES/SKILLS

  • Experience with Apache Flink or similar stream processing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Kafka or Kubernetes operations.
  • Exposure to AWS IoT services and related architectures.
  • Experience with identity and access management systems, such as Cognito.
  • Understanding of telco cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience managing geographically-distributed or remote engineering teams.
