The pay rate for this position is $24/hour. Hourly wage is based on experience and geographical location.

Field Interviewers are responsible for:

• Traveling frequently to selected locations to recruit study participants, averaging 50-75 miles from residence
• Making in-person contact with selected respondents to discuss the study, answer questions, and obtain participation
• Collecting confidential information and administering standardized questionnaires
• Independently managing administrative duties, including participating in conference calls and completing online trainings
• Transmitting data as scheduled
• Assuming full and legal responsibility for use and care of project-issued equipment
• Safeguarding any participant incentives, issued equipment, or project materials against damage, loss, or theft
• Assuming responsibility for and carefully tracking all participant incentives
• Submitting timely and accurate Time & Expense reports
• Virtually attend scheduled meetings with other members of the project team
• Administering a short interview
• Recruiting respondents for a longer main interview, if selected
• Maintaining regular access to a reliable wireless internet connection in your home for project work
• Meeting weekly with supervisor via Zoom
• Compliance with all audit requests is mandatory

RTI International is seeking bilingual part-time field interviewers on the National Household Enumeration Study (NHES). NHES collects data about television viewing and household composition. The study involves an in-person screening averaging 5 minutes and a household interview that usually lasts between 5 to 10 minutes. NHES data collectors are responsible for traveling to respondents’ homes to conduct the in-person screenings and interviews.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old at the time of employment
• Must possess High School Diploma or GED
• Possess effective communication skills through speech and listening
• Fluency in both English and Spanish through reading, writing, and speaking
• Available for entire training and data collection period
• Able to successfully complete training
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable personal automobile available for business use
• Comfortable using RTI issued tablet, laptop and other associated equipment
• Access to password-protected Wi-Fi connection for data transmissions and administrative responsibilities
• Able to keep project information confidential
• Willingness to work in various types of weather conditions and after dark

 

Preferred Qualifications for Ideal Candidates

• Positive, self-motivated, curious, and enjoy interacting with people from culturally-diverse backgrounds
• Effective time, schedule, and workload management skills to meet set deadlines
• Computer skills, namely email and internet proficiency
• Be comfortable working in unfamiliar areas

• The data collection period is expected to be February 2025 through July 2025
• On average, you will be needed approximately 25 hours per week when work is available
• On average, you should be available to work in the field 4 days each week
• The majority of this work is anticipated to be during evenings and weekends
• Each of your trips to the field are expected to be at least 4 hours long

Field Interviewers are required to complete trainings which include:

• Successfully pass project required trainings
• Attendance at all trainings is mandatory
• Attend a 1 day virtual screening training, to be scheduled in early April
• Attend an in-person training to be scheduled in early April that likely requires air travel. Training will be approximately 3 days in length
• Must pass certification mocks twice in data collection period (once on the last day of training and again approximately halfway through data collection)

Travel distances can average 50 to 75 miles from residence. Work will include Maryland suburbs and Northern VA
