Overview The Sussex County Miners are seeking a motivated Sports Journalism Intern to join our team. This intern will have the unique opportunity to develop and enhance their sports writing skills by creating engaging content, covering live games, conducting player and coach interviews, and learning the ropes of sports media.

Learning Objectives

• Develop skills in sports writing, interviewing, and multimedia storytelling.
• Gain experience in fast-paced game-day operations and content production.
• Build a portfolio of published articles, social media posts, and multimedia content.
• Develop an understanding of the inner workings of sports journalism and media relations within a professional sports organization.

Responsibilities

1. Game Coverage and Recaps

• Attend home games to cover live action and write game recaps.
• Conduct pre- and post-game interviews with players and coaches.
• Compile game statistics and highlight key performances.

2. Feature Writing and Profiles

• Research and write feature articles on players, coaches, and fans.
• Develop weekly storylines to engage the Miners' fan base.
• Pitch new and creative ideas for storytelling.

3. Social Media and Digital Content Creation

• Collaborate with the social media team to create game-day posts and in-game updates.
• Capture behind-the-scenes moments and player interactions for social channels.
• Assist in creating short-form video content and photo captions.

4. Media Relations Support

• Assist with game-day press box operations, including distribution of press materials.
• Compile media clips and assist in managing press coverage.
• Aid in updating the team's media kit and other press materials.

5. Community and Promotional Event Coverage

• Cover team community events, promotional activities, and special appearances.
• Create content that highlights the team's involvement in the local community.
• Conduct short interviews and write summaries of community engagement efforts.
